My wife’s stepmother shipped us some Smoked Pork Chops a few months back I had no idea what to do with them, so I threw them in the freezer – until I found this recipe. You can find the Kai-lan recipe here.

Grilled Red Curry Chicken and Thai Salad

I was hankering for my Thai Salad since the weather here had been a bit hot. I decided that it would go well with this recipe for Grilled Red Curry Chicken I stumbled upon not too long ago.

For the Thai Salad, I used some more lettuce from our garden, cucumbers, grated rainbow carrots, bean sprouts, fried onions and the dressing from smallwaresFried Kale recipe.

Mussels with Tarragon and Chive Butter, Raclette Fingerling Potatoes, Baby Butter Lettuce Salad with Paprika Vinaigrette

On the eve of Bastille Day, I decided to go with something French.

The mussels recipe is from Laura Calder and can be found here. The potatoes was just an idea I had… Boiled, and then broiled with some grated raclette cheese on top. And the salad was because the lettuce was ready to pick in our garden. The Paprika Vinaigrette dressing was in the latest issue of Bon Appétit.

This week, I filled up my growler with the Servitude Saison from Humble Brewing that I got from Bailey’s Taproom. This beer was one of the five beers created for the Portland Museum of Art‘s ‘Art & Beer‘ event. So, the brewers were “inspired by” the painting…

Ancho Chile Braised Country Style Pork Ribs, Cold Slaw, Mac & Cheese with Pepper Jack and Green Chiles

Fourth of July.

Decided to try out this recipe for ribs that I had found poking around a while back as well as this new cold slaw recipe. And I had been asked to make my grandmother’s macaroni and cheese – that I used some Pepper Jack that I had picked up at the Farmer’s Market the week before in place of the Emmentaler and added some diced green chiles.

With the meal, I went with a growler of Tamil Black – a wild ale that was aged for a year in Pinot Noir barrels with barberries and amla fruit – from Flat Tail Brewing. For dessert, we did a comparison of Breakside Brewery‘s latest bottling of the Bourbon Barrel Aztec and New Belgium \ Lips of Faith‘s Cocoa Mole with some Coconut with Petunia’s Salted Caramel Bars ice cream from Salt & Straw.
